Joi Semaglutide Weight Loss Review
It's definitely working! I lost ten pounds the first six weeks!! I'm not hungry and I don't crave food or want to eat all the time like before. The food "noise" has died down, meaning I'm not thinking about food all the time.
The semaglutide tends to make me just a little bit nauseous from time to time, which is one of side effects. This could be perceived as a strategy possibly, as that kills my appetite and my desire to eat. I have not experienced any of the other known possible side effects.
The medication also causes me to get full pretty quickly and tends to slow down my digestion which means I stay and feel full longer. No more late-night snacking.
I have also read that studies are being done to see if semaglutide might help people who are trying to go alcohol-free. There were a few times I was tempted to order a drink with dinner but found it didn't "sound" as good as it used too, and I was able to resist. So maybe this is a drug that can help with cutting back or cutting out alcohol as well.

Menopause Weight Gain
I started taking Hormone Replacement Therapy in December 2019. I went on to lose 28 pounds and was feeling pretty proud of myself. I've continued my HRT but have been unsuccessful in losing that last 12-15 pounds. I'm not as 'big' as I was, but I'm still not where I want to be. Can you relate?
Labs and Hormone Testing
I changed up my HRT provider in April 2024 to Joi Women's Wellness. As part of the onboarding process, I signed up for their Hormone + Metabolic + Thyroid lab test. Semaglutide Weight Loss
In June 2021 the FDA approved semaglutide for chronic weight management in adults with obesity or overweight with at least one weight-related condition (such as high blood pressure, type 2 diabetes or high cholesterol). Then in November 2023 the FDA also approved tirzepatide to help people who are considered obese or overweight with or without diabetes.
Both semaglutide and tripeptide are considered peptides. Semaglutide, which you may recognize as Wegovy, is proven to decrease blood sugar levels by increasing insulin which lowers the amount of glucagon released and that helps you to reduce the amount of food that you want to eat. Tirzepatide, which you may recognize by name Mounjaro, works by decreasing appetite and slowing the movement of food from the stomach into the small intestine, which may make you feel full more quickly and for a longer period of time.
Semaglutide Compounding Pharmacy
Semaglutide and tirzepatide, in their brand names, if approved, could be covered by your insurance. That is, if you can find them! In January of 2024, semaglutide and tirzepatide were both placed on the FDA's list of drugs in shortage, which meant compounding pharmacies are now able to step in and provide compounded versions of the meds.

Semaglutide Injection
The semaglutide medication is a once-a-week subcutaneous injection and can be a bit intimidating for the first injection, but from the second one on, it was no big deal. I started out with a smaller dose for a few weeks, then per my directions I up the dose a little each week. Joi's partner compounding pharmacy Empower sent to me the semaglutide vials (enough for four months), syringes and alcohol wipes to prepare the area where I plan to give myself the injection. It arrived within 7-days of my appointment with Dr. Brook.
