Midi Health for Menopause
A new(er) telehealth Hormone Replacement Therapy company has hit the scenes, Midi. Their tag line reads, "Midi puts specialized midlife healthcare within reach for more women than ever before." My social media accounts have been seeing more and more of this provider's ads over the past several months, so I decided to check them out.
I signed up and become a patient of Midi in August of 2024 and will share with you my experience and a complete breakdown of my costs using my insurance from my full-time employer. Keep reading to the end to see my actual out of pocket costs.
Unlike providers who don't accept insurance and feel compelled to disclose their pricing because you are paying out of pocket, Midi doesn't disclose pricing and suggests you use your medical insurance. Your experience with Midi will be more like visiting your traditional doctor. You don't always know all the Rx's they can prescribe or the costs, you wait for them to be prescribed then research to see what your out of pocket may be. Midi will work the same.
Midi also specializes in non-hormonal therapies if you are trying to avoid hormones or if you are someone who would be better served with supplements and botanicals.
Midi Women's Health
They are licensed to practice in all 50 states and promote that they specialize in 40+ Age Group.
They also offer prescriptions for Ozempic, Zepbound and the generic version Semaglutide. I had a really good experience using Semaglutide + my HRT and was able to lose that last 15 pounds. If you have weight you want to lose, be sure to mention that to your Midi HRT specialist while on your 1:1 telemedicine call.
Can I take Hormone Replacement if I've had Breast Cancer or have a history?
In my research of HRT providers, this is the first one to specifically indicate that they'll work with you if you have had breast cancer or have a history of breast cancer in your family. "Cancer survivors and at-risk women deserve expert menopause care. Midi is the only virtual care clinic dedicated to giving ALL women- cancer survivors included -- personalized treatment so they can feel their best" I've seen many social media posts where breast cancer survivors continue to be turned down by HRT companies when they need them the most, Midi seems to be doing things a bit different.
Does Join Midi take insurance?
Midi is one of a few HRT providers that accept traditional medical insurance. Actually, it's their marketing strategy to be able to compete with the other known HRT online providers; making HRT more accessible to more women, that's their tag line. They name larger networks like Blue Cross, Aetna, Anthem and Cigna as just a few of the PPO's that they work with. If you have any doubt as to whether your insurance is accepted, you can reach out to the Midi help desk.
Midi does accept and take HSA credit cards.
Midi, How Does it Work?
To get started you'll want to book your virtual visit. Complete the needed medical history and provide your insurance information. The first appointment is 30-minute in duration and allows you and your clinician to get to know each other and discuss your medical history and symptoms you are experiencing. Meds may or may not be prescribed after first appointment.
They may ask for blood tests at end of initial call and have partner relationships with companies like LabCorp where you can stop in during regular hours for a blood draw. Upon receipt of the blood tests, you'll have a follow up with your specialist to review results and discuss med options.
Out of pocket costs for initial appointment if not using insurance is $250 with each follow-up being anywhere from $120 to $250 depending on the length of the appointment. With insurance, it's up to your coverage, co-pay and deductible that will determine your personal out of pocket. Midi encourages you to contact them to discuss the out-of-pocket costs you can expect.

I became a patient of Midi in August of 2024, and I'll share my experience on the process and my out-of-pocket cost.
I went to their website and created an account on Day 1 (Friday). I completed their medical in-take form and immediately got an invite to schedule my 1:1 with a Midi Healthcare HR specialist. I scheduled that day for the next business day at 4:00 EST (Day 2) Monday.
I work for a bank in the Central Ohio area and my insurance is based on a large medical network here in my city. It was not listed on Midi's website so I called the number on the back of my insurance card and was told that this appointment would be considered out of network and if I paid the $250, it would go toward my out of network deductible, but I wouldn't be reimbursed for it. I was also instructed to check with my prescription insurance provider contact to see what portion of the meds might be covered by my prescription insurance. I didn't do this and opted to forge ahead regardless of the cost.
On Monday, I met with Brittany via a link found in my Midi secure patient portal. We discussed my medical history, and the HRT I was currently on. I explained that I was paying for my current Hormone Replacement Therapy out of pocket and was curious as to how much of the cost my insurance would pick up. I also shared with her that Midi was considered out of network so I would have to pay for the $250 out of pocket. I explained that I felt really good on the current formulations and doses and that I wanted to stick to what was already working, so she agreed to duplicate what I'm already on, the estrogen patch and progesterone tablet. She sent my two prescriptions to my local CVS Pharmacy and I waited for the text notification to tell me that they were ready.
How much does Join Midi Health Cost using insurance?
I have always felt like I had good insurance, but I was a bit surprised at the cost of my meds when I went to my CVS to pick them up. The estrogen patches (90-day supply) my cost $96.85 (Retail price $205.99) and then my progesterone tablets (90-day supply) my cost $111.32 (Retail price $138.99), total out of pocket $ 208.17 for
3-months' worth of meds.
You know how when you go pick up an antibiotic for yourself or a loved one and it's sometimes like $2.99, I guess that's what I was expecting!

Midi Health using a Good Rx Coupon Code
A few days later someone pointed out to me that I could have shopped the GoodRx Website for a coupon to see if the price of the prescriptions may have been less and yes, they were, actually it was a pretty good size cost savings. (See chart above)
The average cost per month using my medical insurance and company provided prescription insurance is $120.21, the same meds using an online GoodRx Coupon Code would have been $ 84.41 per month. Keep in mind, you can't get the prescriptions without a doc, so whether you go to Midi and they send the meds to your local pharmacy or GoodRx preferred merchant or whether you go to an online provider who ships the meds directly to you, you can't do either without a prescription from a doc licensed in your state to prescribe.
As a point reference, Winona, one of the other online providers I really like, offers their Estradiol/Progesterone Cream for $75 per month, two hormones in one product. No appointment, no initial consult fee, no blood/lab work and you don't have to shop for Rx Coupon Code.
Keep in mind, some of the online providers offer online telehealth 1:1 visits and others don't offer actual visits, so depending on your needs and what you are looking for in the way of Hormone Replacement Therapy support, only you can decide which is best for you.
