My MenopauseRx
There's a new entrant in the Hormone Replacement Therapy market, MyMenopauseRx and once I discovered this new company existed, I couldn't wait schedule an appointment and see what they were all about.
If you've followed me on my website or on my YouTube Channel, you know I've become a patient of many of the online, telehealth Hormone Replacement Therapy Providers in an effort to bring you first-hand knowledge of how they conduct their practice and the anticipated costs of the medications they prescribe.
My most recent telemedicine visit was with Jillian Montefusco of MyMenopauseRx. She was noted as being a APRN (Advanced Practice Registered Nurse) and an FNP-C (Family Nurse Practitioner, Certified). She was assigned to be my HRT specialist on my telehealth visit on Monday November 18th.
Does MyMenopauseRx accept medical insurance to pay for telehealth visits?
Yes. They work with insurance providers like, Aetna, BlueCross BlueShield, Cigna, Humana, United HealthCare and TriCare. They will also help you navigate your insurance to know your out-of-pocket costs up front.

MyMenopause Rx, will I need to get labs, bloodwork or have my Hormone levels tested?
It's not necessary to get your hormone levels tested. My MenopauseRx will use evidence-based medicine practices to determine if a prescription or two might help you.
However, if you are curious and want to have blood work done, you can order labs for $49 in your MyMenopauseRx secure patient portal. You'll visit your local Quest Diagnostics to have your blood drawn.
Results delivered to your secure patient dashboard

FSA / HSA Eligible
For example, you can request a Wellness Screen bundle of labs for $49. This bundle includes, (CBC) Complete Blood Count, (CMP) Comprehensive metabolic panel, Cholesterol and (TSH) Thyroid stimulating hormone levels.
MyMenopause Rx Cost
You can ask your insurance to cover the cost of the initial visit, and that cost will be determined by your co-pay, deductibles and whether your insurance is considered in-network or out-of-network. MyMenopausRx's staff will work with you to determine your cost prior to your visit. If you determine your insurance isn't accepted, you could also choose their discounted self-pay option which is $99 and gives you a 20-minute, one-on-one telemedicine appointment with a board-certified, Menopause Society certified practitioner.
Due to the fact that this company does accept and works with insurance providers, it's nearly impossible to predict exactly what your out-of-pocket cost may be for prescriptions. Much like when your primary care physician prescribes an antibiotic, as an example, you don't know the cost until you pick it up at the pharmacy, that's how it will work here. That cost is determined by your Prescription Insurance.
Will MyMenopauseRX be able to help me lose weight?
Yes, they offer prescription Weight Loss medications, think Zepbound or Wegovy. They also have prescription products for Hair Loss, Urinary Tract Infections (UTI), history of herpes, Hypothyroid (underactive thyroid) and Aging Skin products.
MyMenopauseRx does not offer testosterone. If you have done your research and know that you want to include "T" in your regimen, check out Joi Women's Wellness.
MyMenopauseRx - My Out of Pocket Costs
My medical insurance was considered Out-of-Network here, so I signed up as a self-pay patient and used my HSA Card to cover the $99 cost of the initial appointment.
During our appointment, I explained to my HRT specialist, Jillian that I was pretty well versed in Hormone Replacement Therapy and that if she agreed I wanted to stay on the same HRT regiment that I was on.
Estrogen Patch - .0375
Progesterone Tablets - 200 mg
After our discussion of my symptoms and other health related questions, she was in agreement to keep my prescriptions as there were and sent them directly to my neighborhood pharmacy for me to pick up.
As soon as I got the text from the pharmacy, I jumped into my car and went over to pick up my meds. I was super curious to find out what the meds would cost me. I even had GoodRx coupons pulled up and ready to go on my iphone app, just in case the price was better through GoodRx than using my full-time employer's prescription insurance.
I had been prescribed the same meds back in August by Midi Health and for whatever reason, the price then was significantly more than it was for the ones I picked up a few days ago. I'm not sure if I have a deductible for my prescriptions and maybe I was further into that here in November than I was in August or what, but for whatever reason, the price this time around felt much more in line with what I was expecting.
Estrogen Patch - .375 (3 Boxes/enough for 90 days) Retail Price $205.99 - with insurance I paid $ 31.01
Progesterone Tablets - 200 mg (90 days/tablets) Retail Price $71.59 - with insurance I paid $10.41
Back in August those same two prescriptions:
Estrogen Patch - $205.99 Retail/$96.85 with insurance
Progesterone Tablets - $ 138.99 Retail/$111.32 with insurance
Same Rx's with GoodRx would have been: $100.73 for both for 3-month supply
So for me, the moral of story is this; have Good Rx coupon codes handy in case you discover that their price is better than what your prescription insurance is asking. The other thing I guess we should all keep in mind is that prescription insurance will vary and might even vary from beginning of the calendar year compared to later in the year.
MyMenopauseRx, what I like
First, I love companies that include the CHAT feature on their website. It allows you to ask questions and get immediate answers. It makes me feel so 'techy'!
Secondly, their website is AMAZING! It was so easy to find the answers to complete this blog. I appreciate transparency and I bet you do too! I look forward to doing business with companies who provide the info I want up-front so that I can feel confident in my decision to become a client.
If you are one who knows you want to use your medical and prescription insurance to start or start-over on HRT, then I highly recommend MyMenopauseRx. Their initial consultation visit is significantly less than a Midi Health. You'll be paying the same for prescriptions regardless of who writes the actual script, so that should be a wash either way.
As a point of reference, I've also been a patient of Winona and Alloy. They don't require an in-person Zoom visit and will conduct all your communication back and forth via their patient portal. They are both in the range of $74-$85 per month for meds. They have their own partner pharmacies and ship the prescriptions directly to you and you don't have to go pick them up!
